Day 4 – The 365 Day Social Media Challenge –

Day 4 2014 01 04 - scribd - logo - doyle buehler - the digital delusionFor the budding authors and readers, Scribd is a site that connects and communicates with readers and writers. If you want to read a lot of books, from a digital reader, device or reader, then is a great place to start. Likewise, authors and entrepreneurs are able to post their own content and their own books, brochures and other text and visuals.

For the content development and social media entrepreneurs, publishing your own work can result in a number of benefits to you and your online brand. Scribd allows you to be able to publish your PDF documents, your brochures, and your own books and ebooks.

I fumbled around with it for a bit, uploaded my own documents of The 7 Deadly Digital Delusions (You Can View It Here), and then wanted to try to connect with other members… not sure if you can actually do that directly. It seems as though you can connect to authors, but only based on their own material that they have produced and published… I feel so alone.

Day 4 2014 01 04 - scribd - screen shot1 - doyle buehler - the digital delusionFrom a pure book and content perspective, you will be able to find all of the best sellers that you can find on Amazon. The difference is that you can actually read them here directly. No need to purchase them, then download them (you can of course do this here as well). The process just seems much more connected than the typical busy interface. There is a subscription fee, that will set you back $8.99 for apparently unlimited access.

The only drawback is the viewing of the documents themselves. There are other digital readers that you can view content on the web; scribd seems to have chosen, “scrolling”, which doesn’t really feel like a book. Some of the other services offer a simpler, “click” to flip the page.

What is it good for? Connecting and communicating with the book readers, publishers and online content creators.

What Exactly is the Entrepreneur Online 365 Day Social Media Content Challenge? Every day, for 365 Days (Starting January 1, 2014), we will be researching, reviewing, reading and writing about all of the different social media channels that exist online. We’re mapping the social side of the internet, and how to maximise it for entrepreneurs and businesses. It is not just about social media, however. It is all about connecting and communicating with each other in the online environment, and the content that we develop to get there. It is about the tools that we need to grow our own businesses. Every day we will be investigating a new, specific avenue that allows us to join in on the conversation, connect and communicate, based on our interests, ideas, philosophies, attitudes and behaviours. At the end of the year, you will have an amazing new and clear idea as to what the “real” online community really looks like, and how you can make it work more effectively for your own audience and your own business.
